Fun Toys Storaging

BAD BEHAVIOR: Toys cluttering the house and no one picking up toys. HOW TO CHANGE THE BEHAVIOR IN A FUN AND ENTERTAINING WAY: A device similar to a wastebasket would be placed on top of the toy box or toy storage container. This device would have a simple counter that counts the number of toys per second or minute that were put into the container. As the number increases the device will get louder and louder with bells and whistles to encourage the children to put away the toys.

To encourage people to recycle, recycling machines need to serve more than their actual function. The Better day recycling machine rewards the user by telling him different kinds of information regarding the amount of recycling done. In Canada, you get back a deposit while returning empty bottles (plastic or glass). While having the cash back through a receipt, the Better day recycling machine speaks out a sentence and prints it out as the usual receipt gets out. From 1 to 5 bottles the user gets a message to brighten his day (You are a wonderful person).

Dance at the Zebra Crossing

2021-11-23 16:34 - 0 Comments

In major cities around the world pedestrians do not respect the red traffic light at road crossings and prefer to run carps, causing delays in traffic and sometimes even personal injury to themselves. Across the zebra crossing on both sides of the road there will be two identical installations comprised of a modified "push button and wait for signal" box. It will have a speaker set and music. When the button is pushed the pavement sticker starts the game. When the traffic light for pedestrians turns red, the music starts and the bubbles light up.

Sliding Staircase

Every city has at least a slope. Why don't take advantage of the landscape to minimize the use of cars in the city and improve people health? By adding slides, it could be possible to change people's behaviors and the way they move in the city. Depending on the location of the slides, it could be a time saver for people living in hilly cities such as San Fransisco, Lausanne, Quebec, Rio de Janeiro just to name a few. The Sliding Staircase could change the rythm of simply doing the task of walking. It could split it by bringing short periods of fun through a transportation routine.

The dust counter

The dust counter is a counter on your vaccum cleaner which collects points. The value is shown on a display. When you´re done cleaning, you connect the vaccum cleaner to your computer, and your points are transferred to a website, where you every month compete to have the most points!

Cigarette Bin

My purpose is to find a fun theory to convince Smokers to throw their cigarettes not on the floor but in a bin. My idea is to paint of yellow and white a normal dust bin with ashtray so that it looks like a cigarette. The message should be clear: this looks like a cigarette and it is for cigarettes. On top of the dust bin, where the ashtray is I would put a cover with sensors that react to heat and pressure underneath. When the sensors react a recorder inside the dust bin will play the sound of a person screaming with pain for the burn.

The Bicycle Bus

2021-11-24 12:21 - 0 Comments

People usually prefer to take the bus even for short distances even though one could easily walk instead. Therefor many people miss out on everyday exercise.

If you would create a bus that looks like every other bus but with peddles underneath every seat you would both get your everyday exercise and reduce the pollution of our environment.

We all like to compete, although we don’t always admit it. It’s just genetically coded. We want to compare our intelligence, success, force, skills. Why not using this in recycling?

Waiting at the Checkout

2021-11-24 15:47 - 0 Comments

This is for the checkouts in supermarkets. The dividers on the transport belt are put in a gully by the cassier. This is at the end of the transport belt, but the dividers tradionally are needed at the beginning. By giving the dividers a sound of people enjoying a ride (little child on bicycle, people in rollercoaster) people will be stimulated to slide the divider to the beginning of the transport belt. Additionally there can be a disappointed noise when the divider is taken out of the gully and a very scared sound when it slides the wrong way.

The Friendly Toilet

2021-11-24 15:53 - 0 Comments

One of the greatest problems in a house is the toilet. Men tend to leave the toilet seat up, and some don't even bother to take it up, with hygenic consequences. This toilet seat talks to the man, when he takes it up it shows interest in what he is doing ( "how was your day?" "have to go again?") and when the seat goes down again, the seat gives a compliment ("that was a good one" "you are really amazing") .
The exact messages depend upon the users. Some would probably like some more daring messages while others would be offended by them, and probably prefer more gallant messages.

Polite Light

2021-11-24 16:10 - 0 Comments

People often leave their offices at the end of the day and forget the lights on. This is bad for the company and for the environment. Think about it: if a person works from 8am to 6pm, the lights should be on for only 10 hours, but if they forget to turn it off, it's on for 24 hours, more than twice the necessary. So, can we solve that problem by making turning off the lights fun? My idea is to have a "polite light" that thanks the person every time he/she turns it off. We could use different voices and different languages to say thank you, found in movies or music.

There will be 2 small sensors in the recycling bin that will detect rubbish or Movement and once triggered it will activate the speaker which will then say “Thanks.” but then will say an interesting fact like “ You have just saved the average person 10% of work of making a coke can or crisp packet or something the same and that will go far to be used by someone else or you never know it could end up that you drinking out of the same can you have used before”.

What’s funny about buying at the authomatic machines? Absolutely nothing, and if we’re talking about buying condoms it could become even embarassing.
What if the authomatic machine becomes a win-only slot machine, which gives you a funny forecast of the use of the winning?

We think that kind of object can change the way of thinking about the condoms subject and will remind the importance of having safe sex.

Air-drying on a clothesline or rack instead of machine is an easy way to cut energy usage and also save money. With "Who Wants to be a Laundry-naire?" you can turn a chore into a game show! Watch the "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" style gameshow on the clip-on screen, and buzz in your answers by pressing the letter keys beside each clothes line (can play with a partner...good incentive to turn laundry into a social event with other family members).

The TV screen will show short clips as long as there is red light.
Clips like funny stuff from youtube, parts from favorite tv shows etc.

That way people will enjoy standing in the red light rather then being bored and pissed at it (thus, walking while it's on).

In many cities, people that live in apartment buildings don’t really know their own neighbors. Talking Buildings is an activity created to help transform urban apartment buildings into living communities, filled with support and love. The activity is quite simple, consisting of a set of challenges to be placed daily in the building’s mailboxes, throughout a given week. These challenges are handed out by someone who lives in the building and wants to be a change agent.

Can we keep the streets cleaner by making it fun to do? It’s common in both Portugal and Spain to have street parties on warm weekend nights. The problem though is the rubbish these parties make. The solution here is to make a juke box that isn’t powered by coins, but drinks cans and bottles. By cleaning up you can keep the party going.

The idea is to teach compassion in a fun and interactive way. This is a video game that has three choices of play: (1)Three ethics questions, (2) Choosing the ending of a video scenario or (3) Viewer watches a short video depicting life as the member of a selected group (Autism, other disability, homeless, other culture). Machine would be banked with MANY scenarios and information – as so not to become predictable. Original purpose: autism awareness, but can be used for various other reasons.

Enter Mr Potato Peel. This charming fellow is a plastic cover for a collection bucket, with silly face parts that can be added and changed (Mr. Potato Head style). He keeps the food waste out of sight and scent -- and when his mouth door is opened, the lucky composter hears a recording of the words for various fruits and vegetables in foreign languages. Fun AND educational!
