Sliding Staircase

Every city has at least a slope. Why don't take advantage of the landscape to minimize the use of cars in the city and improve people health? By adding slides, it could be possible to change people's behaviors and the way they move in the city. Depending on the location of the slides, it could be a time saver for people living in hilly cities such as San Fransisco, Lausanne, Quebec, Rio de Janeiro just to name a few. The Sliding Staircase could change the rythm of simply doing the task of walking. It could split it by bringing short periods of fun through a transportation routine.

Dance at the Zebra Crossing

In major cities around the world pedestrians do not respect the red traffic light at road crossings and prefer to run carps, causing delays in traffic and sometimes even personal injury to themselves. Across the zebra crossing on both sides of the road there will be two identical installations comprised of a modified "push button and wait for signal" box. It will have a speaker set and music. When the button is pushed the pavement sticker starts the game. When the traffic light for pedestrians turns red, the music starts and the bubbles light up.

To encourage people to recycle, recycling machines need to serve more than their actual function. The Better day recycling machine rewards the user by telling him different kinds of information regarding the amount of recycling done. In Canada, you get back a deposit while returning empty bottles (plastic or glass). While having the cash back through a receipt, the Better day recycling machine speaks out a sentence and prints it out as the usual receipt gets out. From 1 to 5 bottles the user gets a message to brighten his day (You are a wonderful person).

BAD BEHAVIOR: Toys cluttering the house and no one picking up toys. HOW TO CHANGE THE BEHAVIOR IN A FUN AND ENTERTAINING WAY: A device similar to a wastebasket would be placed on top of the toy box or toy storage container. This device would have a simple counter that counts the number of toys per second or minute that were put into the container. As the number increases the device will get louder and louder with bells and whistles to encourage the children to put away the toys.

Chore Bore is a device designed to help parents and kids get the chores done with some fun! Simply record a pleasant message of yourself reminding your child of their task, set a time, push the big button and walk away. Perky, upbeat music will play with soft and playful lights. As the time ticks on, the music becomes more dire, the lights blink more frantically and the parents voice will become louder and weirdly warped. If the child completes the task before the time runs out, an alarm will demand a reward! However.... If the timer runs out, an alarm will demand punishment!

Cheerful Car Faces

Cars often have "faces" - the front grille and headlights can make a face, the tail-lights and trunk can make a face. Many of these faces look angry, dour, and even menacing. Why not design other options? It would be more fun to see cheerful, mysterious, serene, whimsical faces when driving. It might be harder to get mad at a car that looked like it was smiling at you.

Playing in the public is often limited to the kids in a family outing to the shopping centres. Parents have little chance to participate in the games that their children are involved in. We ask: How can we create better parent -child interactions in play? The answer proposed: The Bubble Board. Taking advantage of the height of a parent, he or she can create trails of bubbles on an interactive wall as the parent walks or moves pass it.As the parent creates bubbles, the children get to play with these bubbles on the wall, bursting or moulding them by hand.

their garbage, by throwing it into YES or NO can. You can change the questions over the time to keep the poll fresh and sharp, based on what is important at the moment in the given location.

How many times have we walked past a ton of trash sitting just feet from the nearest trash can? How hard would it have been to "pitch in"? Sadly, pitching in seems a chore. And yet, simply crumpling up a piece of paper seems to convert us: suddenly we're the Shaq Attack, and making baskets is our thing. This little psychological quirk is so strangely affecting that people around their world populate their iPhones with a virtual version of trashketball! With the trashketball can, we can turn a real life task into a really fun sport.

BAD BEHAVIOR: Adults or children who leave their clothes lying around the floor or bathroom. HOW TO CHANGE THE BEHAVIOR IN A FUN AND ENTERTAINING WAY: Design and place a device on top of the clothes basket. This device will register clothing as it goes through the "hoop" similar to basketball. The more clothing that goes into the hoop the more points a family member receives. A biometric reader could be installed to recoginize the particular family member using the device and an electric eye could be used to score more points based on the distance of the shooter.

It would be good for the battle against climate change, if we could motivate multi-fuel car owners to really use the ethanol pump. So how can we make that experience more fun? If the drivers choose the ethanol pump, a group of highly efficient Pit Stop Engineers would do everything for him, just lika a real Formula One driver!

Morsel Machine

2021-11-23 15:17 - 0 Comments

We are supposed to collect the dogs excrements in the park. We should collect them all into the little bag and then throw the bag into the bin. What if there would be a special machine by the dogs bin, giving the morsel to the dog every time we bring the "delivery"? After some time maybe the dogs will get used to it and will push us to pick up the "treasure".

1. We will do something good for our health when we go for a walk
2. Our dog will be happy to receive a morsel and it will motivate us to collect of dog excrement
3. Our parks will stay clean

Cycling is hard work especially up hill. Sound posts with PIR sensors could be placed along the side of the road to give audio rewards to cyclists as they struggle through the city streets. A selection of surprising, uplifting and thought provoking music and sounds could be projected at the cyclists as they travel through a mini soundscape making the whole process more fun and attractive. This would encourage more people to cycle instead of drive.

Beggar Robot

The Beggar Robot has access to areas normally off-limits to beggars, where the richer members of society more often frequent. The hypothesis is that this part of society is only able to show some sympathy towards the marginalized if they communicate from a safe distance and via a technological interface. The project tests and exploits the advantages of robotic interface by bringing the Beggar Robot to public spaces in different countries.

The idea is using hybrid image on a sticker and stick it to your rear car window. This will warn the car behind you if they get too close and prevent accident.

Steer the vaccum cleaner with a joystick. To see who has cleaned the most, you look at a screen. There are also laser canons on the vaccum cleaners, and if player one hits his opponent, his vaccum cleaner will stand still for 15 seconds. The winner is the player who has cleaned the biggest area.

This idea is to promote physical activity while having fun at the same time. The idea is to have a giant etch-a-sketch floor with magnetic slip ons on people feet and they can just draw away with their feet. I would put this somewhere with some traffic like the mall. This would of course be free of charge and I think kids would have so much fun with it, and probably adults too.

My idea is a chore clock. Basically all it is is a digital stop watch, like those used in the Olympic Games for track events, hanging in the kitchen over the sink or the dishwasher, or in the washroom hanging over the washer and dryer. On the stop watch it has a record time and the name of whom the record belongs to. This will make doing chores competitive and fun and gives the record holder bragging rights in the house, and hopefully keep kids active and burning calories while pitching in around the house.

When we were children we were kicking everything, but mostly we were stepping on empty drink cans to make them flat and play football. The idea is to make a rectangle recycle bin for aluminium cans that on its top you can play "can hockey" (like air hockey without the air). There will be two round controllers for hitting the can, on the side and attached with a wire to the bin. People who sit in parks can play this game with their empty cans instead of leaving them on the ground. Simple and cheap!
