Dj Doormat

Cleaning the shoes at the doormat is good way to leave the dirt outside and also to save a lot of water, cleaning supplies and manpower inside a building.
The doormat can be used for normal house entrances (also as a substitute for the doorbell, meaning the sound can be heard inside as well) or even for big entrances of offices or public buildings (here the composition may be recorded and the next visitor may listen to it before making a new one).

Pedaling Battery Charger

Very often it happens that you are away from home and just when you have to make an important call, your cell phone is discharge. The pedaling battery charger is a sort of phone booth that allows you to recharge every type of phone. Inside you can find several attacks and certainly there will also be your among them. The pedaling battery charge looks like a bicycle: by speed and force with which you pedal you recharge more or less quickly your phone.

Art for your sole

It's art you can walk on! It would be like going to an art gallery with sunshine, bird song and in comfortable sneakers! I am proposing this installation as a means to get people active. It would manifest itself in the form of a locked glass-top box embedded into the ground with artwork inside. These could be fitted on popular and even obscure walking trails in and around the city that draw people back to walk them again and again to see what’s new.

Basketball Recycling Bin

This recycling bin uses the sport of basketball to attract users. Everyone loves throwing trash at a trash can anyway, so why not make that the point of the can, rather than a side product? It will not only bring more use to the recepticle, but also make users more concerned about missing, and make them want to retry a bad shot, instead of leaving trash on the floor. The hoop, over the recepticle can also be oversized to help prevent missing.

Polite Car Spoiler

My idea is to use a rear end auto LED sign to promote polite visual driving language while in your car. Imagine a series of polite words that indicate your intent to turn left or to turn right, and thank others afterwards. Such politeness could change the way we interpret another drivers intent and could avoid prevent a lot of road rage.

Metro language

Every day a lot of people are spending time traveling by metro train doing nothing. If we calculate, we are losing a lot of time and on the other side we don't have enough time for ourselves. Why not take that chance to improve our language skills and learn some basics from other languages? LED projectors (on train), projecting simple lessons animations on the outside walls. Different metro lines project different languages so it will never get boring. Submitted by Petar Mirkovic.

Fortune machine

Everyone knows that a huge aesthetic problem on the streets in all cities is the chewing gums. People are so lazy that they just spit out their gum on the street not bothering to trough it in the trash bins around town. Therefore we have come up with a solution to this problem. A giant fortune cookie will be placed on places were there can be expected that a lot of chewing gums will end up, usually on squares and other big spaces like train stations and bus stops. A bin is placed right in front of the fortune cookie were you are supposed to put your used chewing gum.

The concept is to reduce carbon footprint whilst promoting exercise (through financial benefit).
Using available and utilised technology people can access public transport using smart card payment system (i.e. oyster cards in London).
Available at selected seats are pedalling systems, during their journey the user can pedal (at their own pace and desired duration).

Detect Dirty Hands

How can we make people wash their hands after using public toilets? A new doorknob could be the solution for this problem: After using the toilet, you have to touch the doorknob in order to unlock and open the door. So a doorknob with a stamp on its backside could put some colour or a funny message on your hand. The ink can easily be washed off with some water and soap - but of course, it will remain for a while if you do not wash your hands. So everybody can see that your hands are still dirty.

Raffle Chairs

At work we have had a huge problem with recycling cans. The tech department consumed so much Mountain Dew that we didn't have time to recycle them all. A lot of them were thrown away. The solution: I built office chairs made from car seats, as comfy as can be. People could hand their cans to me for recycling and got a raffle ticket for every 10 cans, with a chance to win a chair. The results were amazing. I've had 42 people participate and one person even brought in 800 cans. A huge difference made possible through a little fun.

Problem tackled : reduce the number of single-use bags that are distributed or sold in supermarkets.
Solution:grant the right to people bringing along reusable bags to choose the music played in the supermarket. People are given tags (like barcodes) to stick on their bags. When entering the supermarket, they scan the tag and choose a song to play in the supermarket.

Hand washing – The Germ Killer. Current Problem: Not enough people wash their hands in public restrooms, or they merely use water and no soap.
Purpose: To create awareness of proper hand washing techniques while also alerting those around of the overwhelming issue of people not washing their hands—or merely drenching them in water. Solution: Create an interactive ‘motion sensor’ game that allows the general public to 1) wash their hands correctly and 2) compete with others that have also washed their hands in this facility.

BAD BEHAVIOR: Toys cluttering the house and no one picking up toys. HOW TO CHANGE THE BEHAVIOR IN A FUN AND ENTERTAINING WAY: A device similar to a wastebasket would be placed on top of the toy box or toy storage container. This device would have a simple counter that counts the number of toys per second or minute that were put into the container. As the number increases the device will get louder and louder with bells and whistles to encourage the children to put away the toys.

A common problem on the highways is that lots of pedestrian cross the road among cars instead of using the footbridge. This behavior can result in accidents and running over. Would be possible to increase the number of people using the footbridge and to decrease the number of people that across among the cars by making the footbridge cross something funny? This is the objective of the “Magic Footbridge”.

Many people prefers to get downtown by car and traffic raises the level of pollution.

How to convince people to park their car outside the urban belt and use the public transportation system to get downtown? And, focusing on the car park lot, is it possible to make the car parking more fun?

What about using cars instead pressing step sequencer buttons to create an high-scale step-sequencer with dynamic light and musical effects? This would bring drivers to say: "OK, there's a free lot there, let's park my car onto and see what happens."

People tend to pass doormats in public entrances without actively cleaning their shoes. This is a problem, especially in winter, since the shoes are more dirty during the rainy season.
What would you do if a cigarette set afire a carpet? Extinguish it as fast as possible! We used this knee-jerk action to intensify the cleaning of shoe soles and give people a funny experience.
But the glow does not end. The cigarette butt is made of solid material, lit by a red LED and a thin column of smoke ascends from it. A surprise effect!

Swing Light

"Save power, don't forget to turn off the light," we are told. And yet, often we do forget - for it's so easy to turn the light on, sometimes we don't even remember doing it. What if turning on the light required us to work a bit harder? And what if it was fun? The swing light exaggerates the familiar rope-switch light to emphasize the action of what we are doing when we turn on light, channeling electricity from far-off power sources. The stronger the pull, the brighter the light, the longer the pull, the longer the light stays on.

Instead of getting up by a blasting and annoying sound, customized jokes (diverse) should hit the first note. After an increasingly drifting laugh the user should turn off the "alarm" by hula hooping it with whichever part of her/his body she/he wants to exercise. Thus, the product won't only promote a funner but healthier morning wake up.
