The use of dividers on the supermarket checkout transport belt is quite common. The dividers usually are put in a gully by the checkout person. the dividers usually are concentrated at the end side, where they are put in the gully, not at the beginning, where they are needed. By giving sounds to the sliding dividers people will be tempted to slide them to the other people at the beginning of the transport belt. Additionally there can be a speed meter to look at the speed of your slide. But this can become dangerous, so maybe a catching net at the end of the gully.
